James Hennessy is a freelance theatre artist – he has worked extensively in theatre, working both as an actor and director and with audiences of all ages. Much of his work has involved creating theatre with and for children.

Over the years, he has used this experience in his teaching on Drama and Theatre courses at Rose Bruford College in London as well as a number of universities in the UK, most recently the University of Exeter where he teaches on the Creative Arts in Education MEd.

James has worked with primary and early years teachers in initial teacher training and professional development settings. James’ PhD thesis was based on research into models of reflective practice used by actors.
