OS workshops 2017-2018

Since 2002 the CDM organizes in Rome a longer training course for teachers and music teachers working in nursery and primary schools, entitled “Orff-Schulwerk – Elemental Music and Movement Education“. Since 2007 the course is realised by CDM in collaboration with the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.

The course is shaped in such a form so as to respect the guidelines for teacher education courses given by the Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg, to which the CDM is affiliated.

Regularly included within this course are workshops given by teachers from the Orff-Institute, University “Mozarteum”, Salzburg, Austria, or belonging to the Orff-Schulwerk international circle.

The workshops in English offered at CDM in 2017-18 will be:


Using Orff and percussion instruments in Elemental Music Education

• models for the practice of Elemental Music for 4-11-year-old children
• music and movement as a basic need and means of expression for children
• activation of the creative potential, enhancement of social skills, personal and artistic development
• rhythm activities, accompaniment and arrangement of melodies and songs
• music pieces for Orff and percussion instruments
• diverse applications and strategies according to the working context and the pedagogical situation


Creative Dance with primary school children

Intercultural repertoires: Traditional pieces, dances and rhythms from Brasil

• informal use of Orff instruments
• from the body to voice to the instrument
• exploring the world of Brasilian percussion music
• spoons as a musical instrument (musical games with spoons and other objects)
• singing games, songs and rhythms from Brasil
• creative small group work and using traditional material as a starting point

The workshops will be given in English. Wherever necessary, there will be a translation into Italian.

The workshops have a duration of 10 hours.

Each workshop costs 100 euros.
Payment is due at the beginning of the course.

It is advisable to wear comfortable clothes for movement and dance shoes (or proper socks or barefoot)

All participants will receive hand-outs and a certificate of participation to the workshop.

CDM is officially acknowledged by the Ministry of Education as a teacher education institution.
CDM is a Member of the Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg.

Buses: from Termini station take the bus number 38 and get off at the bus stop “Vigne Nuove / Pasinetti” (around 40 minutes).
From Via delle Vigne Nuove turn to the right for Viale Pasinetti.
Going down on Viale Pasinetti, via Amleto Palermi is a road on the left.
The gate of our venue is immediately on the right after a football field (there is no number on the gate).
Follow the path and get to the staircase: the CDM venue is on the first floor.
